Water Resources Engineering
Development of water resources projects have become very complex, requiring consideration of both engineering and ecological principles in reaching solutions acceptable to regulators and other stakeholders. Triton’s Water Resources Engineering Group works with our team of biologists, planners and ecologists to develop practical engineering solutions to a wide variety of water-related problems. We specialize in water resource engineering for hydroelectric projects, and also provide services to a variety of industrial sectors, including forestry, mining and property development.
Triton has developed specialized numerical modeling software, designed to simulate the linkage between reservoir releases, river hydraulics and tributary inflows and water temperatures. This software is used to manage river flows, in real time, by regulating reservoir release, to manage water temperature for spawning salmon. The software is currently applied on some of the most important salmon systems in British Columbia.
Triton’s water resources engineering services include:
- Fish habitat compensation design
- Water resources management planning
- Hydrological assessment, river hydraulics and sedimentation analysis
- River flow and temperature modeling
